The Tontons, one of Houston’s best kept secrets that is set to explode, are confirmed to play Houston’s Lebowski Bash and I’m sure the Dude would abide.

The Tontons described as ‘A reckless blend of rock and psychedelic blues has given birth to a new sound’ by SXSW will play an exciting set of original songs plus I am told by, a very reliable source, that there are some surprises in store for us achievers.

Great news fellow achievers! Saint Arnold Brewing Company is your official Lebowski bash beer!

Saint Arnold, based in Houston, is Texas’ ‘Oldest Craft Brewery’ and we declare that it is pretty damn tasty no matter what occasion.

Seriously if you don’t know Saint Arnold beers then you aren’t doing it right.

If you still don’t know what Saint Arnold beer is I know what you’re saying ‘Is this some sort of catholic beer?’ Not necessarily. Saint Arnold was founded by Brock Wagner and Kevin Bartol in 1994 in Houston and named after Saint Arnold of Metz. Yes, he is the patron saint of beer and I don’t know about you but that makes me smile!

Lebowski Bash Needs YOU

Last night I did a phone interview with the great Chalupa of Lebowski Podcast fame. We talked about the coming Lebowski bash, Tito’s Vodka, the amazing Bill Green and his wonderful Maude(one of which is hanging on my wall), the Kentucky Derby,  Vinyl Ranch and the fact that this party is totally FREE.

We like free just as much as you do but throwing a free does come with some costs and to help keep this party as free as possible we are looking to you to help out where you can.

Lebowski bash is looking for help with the following things;

1. Volunteers: We will need volunteers to help with the setup and coordination of the party. We will also need volunteers to help with the serving of drinks. The good folks at Tito’s have happily agreed to help us out with supplying the vodka for the White Russians we will be serving and if you or anyone you know can help us with that let us know
2. Sponsorship: This is a free party but we are always looking for sponsors to help carry load - and pass the savings on to you. If you or your company/organization can help out in anyway please let us know. As I mentioned there will be White Russians and so far we have ONE of the three ingredients so if you can help out with the other TWO(Kaluha and Cream) let us know
3. Donations: We are always looking for various donations be they monetary or simply objects like garbage cans or Parquet flooring for a bowling lane. Whatever it is let us know and we can put it to use
4. Spread the Word: We want to make this as successful as possible so let all of your friends know about our little shindig.

Calling all vinyl lovers - Vinyl Ranch to Play Lebowski Bash. That’s right Houston’s own Dave Wrangler and LJ Walker aka Vinyl Ranch are going to be providing the musical back drop for our after screening party.

Be sure to check them out this May 2nd at the historic Leon’s Lounge at 1006 McGowen ‘Spinning Honky-Tonk Classics from Bar Brawls to Panty Droppers.’

Leon’s has got to be one the coolest bars in Houston. I know it’s pretty much my favourite place to drink Lone Stars. Although the puzzle’s under the caps get harder as the night progresses

Yes, my friends, you read that right there is a Lebowski podcast. Now you can get your fill and then some thanks to Chalupa and his crew.

They’ve got a few audio podcasts of all things Lebowski and Lebowski-esque. They even have some cool Lebowski merchandise for the more discerning Urban Achiever.

So what can you expect at this FREE event?

I know I know, things have been a little confusing the past little while as dates have changed but don’t fret Houston very’s first Lebowski Bash is now set in stone. The new date is Saturday June 21st and it will be held at Houston’s newest coolest spot in town - Caroline Collective. Map to Caroline Collective

The reason for all these changes in venue and date to bring you, the Little Lebowski Urban Achievers, a FREE event. A big thanks to the great folks at Caroline Collective for being very ‘Dude.’

It’s going to be a veritable cornucopia of goodness. A ‘horn of plenty’ of good time, if you will.

We are going to have live music, a screening of the movie, local DJs and a host of other visual and aural pleasures. We will have costume and trivia questions and local shops selling some of your favourite and off beat things you come to know and love about Houston. If you don’t know about them well come on out and see what you’ve been missing.
